Yup there's another Speed Scrap at Stuff to Scrap! Tomorrow afternoon join us in the forum for fun and scrapping! The participation prize is a surprise - so come play and find out! :P
Now for those of you who actually read this stuff, we have a new baby coming in one month and we have to get a new vehicle. We just can't cram any more car seats into the back of a 5 passenger Nissan Altima!! :) We probably aren't going to get a brand new car (my DH is a teacher!) but I would love to hear your suggestions, experiences, etc about what type, where to look, etc. You guys are the awesomest (lol - yes I know that's not a word) group of people on the planet and i want advice!!!! :)

I always love Hyundai's. But haven't really checked out any larger size vehicles, so I really can't say if Hyundai has a good large vehicle. :-)
My sister had the same problem. They have 3 kids in car seats. They got a Grand Caravan van. In my opinion, any van will work.
We really love our Honda Pilot! It gets good gas mileage and seats up to 8. I love how you can pick which seats you want up and which to put down. It's easy to get the kids in and out of. It's fun and easy to drive!
We love our Hyundai mini van--we've found the mini vans are usually the best option. However there are some nice AWD larger-mid size SUV's, like the Toyota Highlander.
My only advice is to get a mini-van with at least one automatic door. It will save your sanity. I promise!
Now is a great time to get a brand new vehicle with the cash for clunkers program (if you got a clunker layin around).. a friend of mine got a brand new Jeep for around $12K because Jeep matches the $4.5K. Best of luck De!
I am a Honda fan.. When DH finally gets a job with the sheriffs office I will be getting a Honda Odessey.. a newer model, not brand new. I love them! I agree with the others as well as far as any mini van would work, I am not a fan of Kia's but their warranty is the best IMO, thats if you could do the cash for clunkers. Hondas are great for mileage. Just do your research before you go. As I am sure you know, with the economy like it is, a lot of places will practically pay you to buy a car right now! Good Luck and sorry for my rambling. :)
We just bought a new car a week-and-a-half ago. (Stay away from Nissan of McKinney, FYI.) I highly recommend a Saturn dealership because they are totally upfront with everything. We had a great experience at Saturn of Lewisville. We got a 2008 Kia Sedona (minivan) $13,991 list price. We really like it. I know Honda and Toyata minivans are "better" but Kia's right behind them, and we're on a teacher's salary, too, so Kia was our best option. Good luck. :)
P.s. I prefer the minivan option because it's easier for kids to get in and out of (versus an SUV)--we have a 4yo and 1-1/2 yo. But do what works for you.
